Comparison to PAF

The Personal Ancestral File® (PAF) is highly regarded and was one of the most popular and best-known genealogical software packages of all times.  PAF established many of the standards used by genealogists around the world.  Several successive versions of PAF were developed and released over the past decade.  The two most recent editions are PAF 2.31 and PAF 3.0, which were released in September 1994 and April 1997, respectively.  Some users prefer 2.31, and others prefer 3.0.

Since major differences exist between the two PAF versions, separate comparisons to A&D are provided:

The two comparisons can, in general, also be used to compare Ancestral Quest to A&D.  Since Ancestral Quest uses PAF's data files, it has the same data content limitations as PAF.
