| Notes: Sylvia was of Scottish origin. She crossed the plains via the Oregon Trail
in a covered wagon as an infant. Later she told stories to children of attacks
by Shoshone Indians during the journey. Her parents settled briefly in Oregon,
then came to the Napa Valley, California, in 1863. In 1870 at age 9 Sylvia and her parents and siblings lived in the Hot Springs Township of Napa County. In 1880 at age 19 she and her parents and siblings lived in the Yount Township of Napa. In 1911 Sylvia was widowed when her husband died at age 56. Sylvia was a member of Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 15 of Vallejo and Ioka Pocahontas Council No. 30 of Vallejo. From 1952 until her death, Sylvia lived with her daughter, Mrs. Bernice Moore, at 8371 St. Helena Highway, Oakville. She was bedridden for her last three years.
