Notes:  Gene's first eight years as a child were spent in Wagoner and Muskogee Counties, Oklahoma.
Gene's parents moved their family temporarily to Holtville, California, in 1919.  Later they moved back to Oklahoma and then in 1923 moved permanently to California.  Gene's father died in 1925. In 1930 the family resided in Visalia, California.  Beginning in 1931, Gene worked as a clerk for 45 years, first for Purity grocery stores and later for Vallerga's grocery stores. Gene spent his last year in a rest home with Alzheimers and a stroke that paralyzed his right side.  He passed away at age 84 and 8 months.
