Notes:  The third of six children, Jewel left Oklahoma for California with her family in the 1930s, eventually settling in Napa and then Dixon.  She met her future husband, Jule Pritchard, there.  They married in 1934 and moved to Fairfield in 1939.  Big Jule, as he was known, was a deputy sheriff for Solano County and later became chief probation officer.  At times Jewel was called on to be a matron when Jule had to transport female prisoners.

Jewel also worked for Garben Hardware in downtown Fairfield.  But most of the time Little Jewel, as she was known, stayed home to raise their three children and tend to the family gardens.

Most of all, Jewel loved to host parties in their 4J Ranch country home.  Jule's retirement took them to Stockton in 1969 where they lived for several years.  Upon his death in 1990, she moved back to Fairfield to be closer to family and friends.  She was a contributor to this Hancock Family History.

Jewel was a member of the original Intercommunity Hospital Guild, the Ladies of the Elks, the Pythian Sisters, and the Degree of Pocahontas.  Jewel's mother, Nellie in her latter years, resided with Jewel until Nellie's death in December 1991.  Jewel passed away one month shy of her 90th birthday.  She was buried at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery's IOOF Block 3 Row B Grave 21.
