Notes: In 1930 William was 14 years old and living with his parents and siblings at their fruit farm at Wooden Valley in Napa County, California.

In 1938 and 1940 William was registered to vote in Chimiles Precinct of Napa County as a Democrat. His occupation at that time was farmer.

On 4 Nov 1941, less than a month before the Pearl Harbor attack, William enlisted, in Sacramento California, in the U.S. Army as a private.

In 1946 William married Barbara Samuels. Together they ranched in Carneros for 10 years. In 1956 they bought a ranch in Chiles Valley, where they resided for the rest of their lives raising cattle, sheep, and hay.
