| Notes: *Caution! The name Susan Ann Schrontz may not be correct, but
was created from historical evidence as follows: Susan came from the U.S.
Federal 1900 and 1910 Censuses, Ann came from the U.S. Federal 1880 Census and
Rick Abbott's idea to carry it as Susan's middle name, and Schrontz came from
Rick's finding it in Susan's daughter's 1955 death record
(Source 1543) as her Mother's Maiden Name.
Still, no middle name may have existed and Schrontz is easily misspelled. Susan's father was born in Germany and her mother was born in France or Germany. Susan's youth was spent in Michigan, her birthplace. She married her husband in 1865 and probably in Michigan. The place and birthdate of her first born is not known — as that child did not live long. Susan was in Texas when her next three children were born in 1875, 1877, and 1879. She was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1880 and in Louisiana in 1881 when her last daughter was born. Susan and her family then moved west to Napa, California, and were there in 1900.
