Notes: According to the two cited family history sources (both secondary sources), Melvin was born on 25 Aug 1878 and died four months later. However, the birth of Bertha Jane Catt (Melvin's sister) occurred on 12 Aug 1878 (13 days before Melvin's birthdate) according to her official Ontario birth registration. This suggests that either Melvin's birthdate is erroneous or else he was a fraternal twin brother to Bertha. Neither an Ontario birth registration nor an Ontario death registration for Melvin has been found to support his birth or death information, and no primary source for any of Melvin's data has been identified.
