Notes:  Rex grew up in the Lavenham and Ladysmith districts of Manitoba.  In October 1942, at the age of 20, he answered the call of King and Country and enlisted in the army.  He was severely wounded in Normandy while serving with the 2nd Division, D Company of the South Saskatchewan Regiment.

Rex moved to Winnipeg in 1947, living in St. James until his passing.  He spent most of his adult working life as a baker at Deer Lodge Hospital.  It is there where he met Vi.  Rex and Vi had many friends and were known for their annual New Year's Eve parties.

Rex was a quiet, hardworking man with a wry sense of humour.  He was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to his backyard vegetable and flower gardens.  He loved old time music and playing cards — especially Rummy and Thirty One.  He especially enjoyed visiting his beloved sandhills and Assiniboine Valley.  Rex was survived by three sons and one daughter.
