Notes: In 1881 William worked as a draper, tailor, and outfitter — and resided at London House in Ilminster parish of Somerset, England. William was 31, the oldest, and the head of a 7-person household there — that consisted of himself, his new wife Christian, his brother Edwin Walter Palmer, two assistants, a nephew Robert John Pullman age 10, and a servant. Four of these 7 persons worked at his clothing and outfitting business.
