Letter e-mailed from Lynda Hulford to Dan Hancock, dated 21 Oct 2014, subject Joe Imboden. Lynda wrote the following: I checked some photos of my Dad's taken in May of 1979, when he and wife Billie took a trip to Italy. There are a couple photos that are identified on the back as, the house my Dad's father was born in and another, the house his mother was born in. Not sure of the town. Some other photos on the backs say Fondovalle and Domodossola. He had a little article from a Clearlake newspaper that says they had visited Dad's cousins in Fondovalle in the northern part of Italy in the valley of Formazza. 
Analysis: Based upon the above, Joseph and Basilia Imboden were almost certainly born in the Italian Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, which is within the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Within that Province they were probably born either in the municipality (comune) of Formazza and its village (frazioni) of Fondovalle, or in the municipality (comune) of Domodossola. Both muncipalities are on the border with German-language portions of Switzerland and are at the foot of the Italian Alps. Also included was the photograph of Joseph A. & Dorothy J. Imboden's crypt at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa. | ||||
