Notes:  Virginia was born 9 Mar 1915 in Mott, North Dakota, and was living with her family in the Village of Mott, Hettinger, North Dakota in the 1915 North Dakota State census and the 1920 U.S. census.  She was the youngest of five children of Andrew Noble and Nellie Griswold.  Her siblings included Vida, born in 1902, Maurice in 1904, Kenneth in 1905, and Nellie in 1911.
In the 1925 North Dakota State census,Virginia's sister Vida was no longer living at home.  Virginia's father Andrew was the Hettinger county auditor.  He died in Dec 1927.  In the 1930 U.S. census, Virginia was living with her mother and brother Kenneth, in Mott.  Both her mother and and her brother Kenney were working as deputy county auditors. After graduating with honors from high school, Virginia went to college in Portland, Oregon.  In the 1930 U.S. census, Virginia was living at 601 Irving Street, Portland, Oregon, sharing an apartment with Phyllis McCollum.  The rent was $38. per month.  Virginia was a junior accountant for the state welfare commission. Virginia moved to San Francisco, and became a Red Cross worker.  During World War II she worked in Guam and New Caledonia.  She left Guam on 8 Nov 1945 aboard the U.S.S. Rixley, arriving in Seattle on 20 Nov 1945.  She was 30 years old, and headed for her brother Maurice's home in San Gabriel, California.  After working for a short while she returned to the bay area. Virginia married John Holt on 8 May 1948 in Oakland, Alameda County, California.  They took up residence in Concord, California, where they started raising their four daughters.  In the 1958 San Francisco City Directory John is listed as a special sales rep for the A.C. Horn Co., residence in Concord.  The family moved to Whittier in Southern California.  Virginia worked as a bookkeeper and as a librarian.  She studied library science at Fullerton State College and worked for the Lowell Joint School District in Whittier. Virginia and John were divorced in Los Angeles County in Apr 1975.  After retirement she traveled in Asia and in Europe, before finally settling in Arcata, California.  Along her life's journey, her addresses included McKinleyville, Whittier, Concord, and Soquel, California.  In Concord, she was the Vice President of the local League of Women Voters. Virginia is seen at the left at age 95 on a visit to Auburn in June 2010.  She died 11 Oct 2010, in Arcata, California.  Her place of burial is unknown.
