By 1950, the voter registration records list Bob and Betty as living at 18821 Erwin Street, Los Angeles. At the time this was "horse country", and their property was called a ranch. The Van Nuys News reports the participation of Bob and Betty in the Tarzana Horsemen's Association, which was formed in 1950. Bob served on the Board of Directors, and was President in 1950. His wife Betty was Corresponding Secretary the following year.
Bob was a musician, and was a musical arranger for the Lawrence Welk Band from 1973 to 1982. In later years, Bob had a ranch in Murrietta, Riverside County, California, called the Fly B Ranch.
