Notes:  Muriel Irene Smith was born 9 Jun 1886 in Picton, Prince Edward County, Ontario.  She was the daughter of William Charles Smith* and Sarah E. Church.  The family immigrated to the United States about 1888, and moved to Alhambra, Los Angeles, California, about 1892, when she was 6 years old.  Her parents divorced, and her mother married William M. Hall about 1894.

In the 1900 U.S. census, Muriel was living with her mother and stepfather, William M. Hall.  Muriel was identified by her step-father's last name Hall.  *In 1938 her natural father, William C. Smith provided an afadavit of delayed registration for her birth.  Her marriage record identifies her father as William Smith, but her death record gives her maiden name as Hall.
Muriel became a naturalized citizen in 1909.  On Christmas Eve 1909, Muriel married Frank Thomas Olson in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Charles Edward Locke, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church.

In the 1910 U.S. census, Muriel and Frank were living at 411 Curtis Avenue, Alhambra.  They moved several times, and in 1915 and 1920 they were living at 116 North First Street, Alhambra.  In 1923, Muriel and Frank were living at 512 North Second Street; and the 1930 USA census finds them at 423 Almansor, Alhambra, with a young female servant.  This was still their address in 1939.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Muriel and Frank were still on Almansor.  Muriel had received an eighth grade education.  They had no children, and Muriel is always listed as a housewife.  She died unexpectedly 19 Jan 1944.  Her burial place is unknown.
