Notes:  Albert Henry Findlay was born 9 Nov* 1895 in Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada.  He was the fourth child of David Irene Findlay and Mary Elizabeth Wedge.  His siblings were Allen, born in 1891, Rena, born in 1892 and died 1893, and Reed, born in 1894.  His younger siblings were Lena, born in 1897, and Marian, born in 1897 and died 1899.
In the 1900 U.S. census, the family was living in Panaca Twp., Lincoln, Nevada.  Albert's father David was a farm laborer.  The children were Allen, 9, attending school, Reed, 6, Albert, 4, and Lena, 2.  The family was living in the household of his grandmother, Jessie (Janet Ireland) Findlay, a widow.  Also in the household was his aunt, Janette Findlay, a school teacher.

In the 1910 U.S. census, Panaca, Albert's father David was a farmer, working his truck farm on his own account.  His mother Elizabeth had had seven children, only three children now living.  These were Allen, 19, a farm laborer, Reed, 15, and Albert, 14.  Lena Irene had died in 1908, and Nellie May, born in 1903 died at one week.  All four of his sisters are buried in the Panaca Memorial Park, Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada.

On 5 Jun 1917 when Albert registered for the World War I draft, he was living in Panaca, single, and farming for himself.  He was described as being of medium height and build, with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair.

Albert married Faye Walker on 17 Jun 1918 in Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada.  Their first child Clifford Owen was born in 1919.  In the 1920 U.S. census, Panaca, they were living with his parents, David and Elizabeth Findley.  Albert was a farmer.  Also in the household was his brother Allen, also farming. Albert and Faye added three more children to their family.  Vivian Bert was born in 1921, Lee Walker, born in 1925 died in 1926, and Ellen Marie was born 1927.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Albert and Faye were living on County Road, Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada.  Albert was a general farmer, and they owned their home, valued at $1800.  They did not have a radio set.  Their children were Clifford, 10, attending school, Vivian, 8, and Ellen, 2.  Two more children were added to the family.  These were Jack Reed and Enid Eola.

In the 1940 U.S. census**, Albert and Fay were living on 4th Street, Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada.  This was the same house as in 1935, which they owned, valued at $800.  Albert had completed eighth grade and was still farming.  Their children were Clifford, 20, a farmer, Vivian 18, a new worker for N.Y.A., Ellen, 12, Jack, 8, and Enid, 5.

At some point in time, Albert and Faye moved to Grants Pass, Josephine, Oregon.  Faye died 3 Feb 1966 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California.  Her last residence is listed as Grants Pass, Oregon.  Albert died 5 Jul 1978 in Grants Pass Oregon.  Both are buried in the Panaca Memorial Park, Panaca, Nevada.

  * Albert Findlay has two applications for a Social Security number in the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index. One gives 9 Oct 1895 and the other 9 Nov 1895 as birthdate.  The 9 Nov 1895 date is the one used in the 1900 U.S. census and later records.
** The 1940 U.S. census lists Albert as "Findlay Albert", and gives the entire family the surname of Albert.
