Notes:  Gertrude (Gertie) Evelyn Sansburn was born 23 Nov 1898 in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  She was the oldest child of William Henry Sansburn and Harriet Ida (Ida) Glaspell.  In the 1900 U.S. census, William, 33, and Ida, 26, were living on their farm in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  Gertrude was 1 year old.  Also living in the household was Emil Magnuson, 21, a farm laborer.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Gertrud's father was listed as a grain farmer.  Gertrude, 11, had two sisters, including Dorothy E., 9, Willas, 5, and a brother Maynard, 3.  Also living with the family was Eimer Bardal, 22, a farm laborer.  The family is all together in the 1915 and 1925 North Dakota censuses.  They are not found in the 1920 U.S. census.

Gertrude married Harold James Detwiller on 24 Feb 1926.  Their only child, Andrew (AndyBill) William was born 3 Sep 1927.  In the 1930 U.S. census, Gertrude, 30, and Harold, 27, were farming on a rented farm.  Andrew was 2½ years.  They moved to Wisconsin in 1936.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Gertrude, 41, Harold, 36, and Andrew, 12, were living in Downsville, Dunn Town, Dunn, Wisconsin.  Gertrude had had one year of high school.  Harold was farming on his own account.  Living with the family was a farm laborer, Clarence Rudd, 24.  At some point in time, the family made their home in Menomonie, Dunn, Wisconsin, where Harold worked for Farmers Union Oil Co, for many years before retiring.

Their son Andrew developed cancer of the spine, and died 9 Apr 1943, when 15 years old.  Gertrude died 19 Dec 1949 in Menomonie, Dunn, Wisconsin.  She is buried with her son and later deceased husband in Froens Cemetery, Menomonie, Dunn, Wisconsin.
