Notes: Ernest Henry Detwiller was the adopted son of Alexander Detwiller and Agnes French. His birth date of 24 Feb 1905, and birth place of Brandon, Manitoba, were not registered with the Province of Manitoba until 1956. He appears in the 1906 Manitoba census as their son with the name of E.H. Rimand. The family was living south of Brandon. The postal address was Hayfield, which is a short way from Glenwood.

In the 1911 Canada census, Earnest H. now carries his adoptive name Detwiller. In the 1916 Manitoba census, their place of residence was on 1st Street, in Souris Town. His sister Doris, born in 1917, was also adopted. In the 1921 Canada census the entire family is found in Glenwood Municipality, Brandon. Family records report their home as being Hayfield.

Ernest moved to British Columbia as an adult. Several sources are found for a Ernest Henry Detwiler (spelled with one "l") and Ernest Detwiler. Ernest Henry Detwiler married Pearl Almas on 26 Apr 1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ernest Detwiler appears in the Canada Voter Lists in Vancouver Centre in 1940, listed as a Miner, with a Mrs. Detwiler, living at 1169 Pendrell Street. In 1972, Ernest Detwiler is listed as a Manager, with a Joan G. Detwiler listed as an Apartment manager; the address is 1160 Nicola Street, Apt. 1. This last is probably accurate as his death certificate lists a wife as Joan Detwiller, maiden name Cowper. Their residence was 1968 Brunette Avenue, Coquitlam, and Ernest was listed as a retired salesman.

Ernest Henry Detwiller died 5 Jun 1976 at Vancouver General Hospital, followed by cremation. Cause of death was cardiac arrhythmia. A Joan Gwendoline Detwiller died 14 Jan 1989 at age 74 in Langley, British Columbia. Whether this is his wife is unknown.
