Notes: William Herbert Detwiller was born 27 Aug 1918 in Brandon, Manitoba. His parents
were John William Detwiller and Margaret Campbell Brown. A brother and sister died as
infants. His sister Edna Robena was born in 1910, and sister Muriel in 1925.|
In 1935 the family was living in Douglas, Neepawa, Manitoba. According to the Canada Voters Lists, his father was a laborer. In 1940, the family was living at 340 Eleventh St., City of Brandon, Manitoba. Herbert (as he was known) was a laborer, his father a patrol man, and his sister Edna a seamstress.
The family moved to British Columbia about 1947. In 1949, the Canada Voters Lists identify the family living at 1747 East Fifth Street, Vancouver. Herbert was a mechanic, his father a stableman, sister Edna a steamstress, and sister Muriel a nurse. The photograph of William suggests that he served in the Canadian armed forces.
William married Isabel May Morrow on 4 Mar 1950 in Vancouver, British Columbia. His sister Muriel Detwiller and her brother Eldon Lloyd Morrow had married the previous year. William and Isabel may have had four children. In 1974, the Canada Voters Lists identify them living in Sicamous, Box 381, B.C. William was a carpenter.
William's wife Isabel died in 1979 in Vernon, B.C. At the time of her death their residence was 310 White Pine Street, Sicamous, B.C. Herbert moved to Oliver, British Columbia. His address in 1995 was 37469 93Rd Street, Oliver. In 1998, his address was 38660 71St., St.9, Oliver. He died 13 May 1999 in Oliver, British Columbia. The disposition of their remains is unknown.
