Notes:  Albert James Gordon was born 20 May 1917 in Watrus or Regina, Saskatchewan.  His parents were Alexander and Mabel Gordon, of Scotch origin.  He was known as Bert.  He had an older brother Kenneth, and perhaps a twin brother Arnold.  Bert's name was James Albert on a passenger manifest, and the English death index.  It was J. Albert on the Social Security Death Index, J A (Bert) in a cemetery record, and J. Albert 'Bert' on his headstone.

Bert married Florence Margaret Detwiller on 15 Jul 1944 in Saskatchawen.  The couple had no children.  The marriage was evidently a short one.  James moved to New York City, about 1946 and Florence moved to British Columbia about 1950.

James Albert Gordon appears on a passenger manifest, arriving in New York, New York, on 12 Jul 1950.  The ship may have been the S.S. Santa Rosa, arriving from La Guaira, Venezuela.  This is conjecture, because the ship manifest card does not actually name a ship.  The manifest card appears on the same microfilm roll immediately after the list of alien crew members on the S.S. Santa Rosa, which arrived in port that very day.

Bert was described as 5 ft. 8 ins., fair complexion, brown hair, and hazel eyes.  His birth date was 20 May 1917 in Regina, Saskatchewan.  He was a dress designer.  His wife Florence was living in Cowichan Station, British Columbia, and his own address was 332 East 66th Street, Apt. 4D, New York, New York.  He was a permanent U.S. resident, and had been studying at New York College from 1946 to 1950.

According to the England & Wales Death Index, Bert died in Leicester, Leicestershire, England, his death being registered in June 1996.  The Social Security Death Index gives J. Albert Gordon a death date of 15 May 1996.  His last residence was 800 (U.S. Consulate) London, United Kingdom.

J. Albert (Bert) Gordon was buried in the Watrous Cemetery, Watrous, Saskatchewan, where his brother Kenneth A. Gordon, and mother Mabel Gordon are buried.
