|Notes: Irving Leroy Pratt was born 6 Oct 1936 in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.
He was the oldest child of Wallace Irving Pratt and Dorothy Nelson. In the 1940 U.S.
census he was living with his parents on their farm in Tyrol Twp., Griggs. He
was 3 years old, and his younger brother Harland was 8 months. A sister Roberta was born
after the 1940 census.|
After graduating from high school, Irving entered the U.S. military. His headstone indicates that he served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation storekeeper Petty Officer 3rd Class (AK3), and the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt). He served in Korea.
Irving married Avis Walen on 20 Jul 1956 in Long Beach, Los Angeles, California. Following his service in the military, they moved to Reno, Nevada, where he became a firefighter. Irving served on the executive board of the Reno Firemen's Association, and played golf. His headstone indicates he may have enjoyed fishing. The couple had two daughters.
Irving retired from the fire department as a Captain in 1989. He died 12 Mar 2011 in Reno, Washoe, Nevada. He is buried in the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley, Lyon, Nevada.
