Notes:  Myrtle Emily Steffen was born 4 Mar 1906 in Griggs County, North Dakota.  Her parents were William Steffen and Elizabeth Danner.  She was the youngest of eleven children.  Her older brothers and sisters were Ferdinand, born in Jul 1880, William, Feb 1882, Lena, Feb 1884, Louisa, May 1886, and Cristens, Aug 1888, all born in Minnesota; and Emma, born in Oct 1892, Edna, Aug 1895, Frieda, Aug 1897, Erwin, Jan 1899, and Clarence, circa 1901, all born in North Dakota.  Her father, a farmer, owned the farm located in Clearfield Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.

In the 1910 U.S. census, Clearfield Twp., Myrtle, 4, was living with her parents and her six youngest siblings.  Also in the household were two farm laborers, school teacher, and Helen Retzlaff, age 2, a granddaughter.  Her father William died in 1911.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Clearfield Twp., Myrtle's mother Elizabeth, now widowed, was head of the household, farming on her own account.  Only Erwin, Clarence, Florence and Myrtle, 13, remained at home.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Clearfield Twp., Elizabeth was still listed as a general farmer, and only Clarence and Myrtle, now 24, remained at home.  Myrtle married Cecil Kenneth Campbell in 1930.

Myrtle and Cecil had one daughter, Donna Mae.  Myrtle died 8 Nov 1939 in Griggs County, North Dakota.  She is buried in the Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.
