Notes:  Edna M. Lewis was born 5 Feb 1906 in Binford, Griggs, North Dakota.  Her parents were Fred G. Lewis and Isabelle M. Reid.  She had an older brother, Howard G. Lewis, born about 1904.  In the 1910 U.S. census, her family was living in Addie Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  Her father Fred was the local Postmaster.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Edna's family was living in Binford, Addie Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  her father Fred was a salesman for an auto garage.  She and her brother were attending school.  Her parents had a cottage at Red Willow Lake, north of Binford, and Edna swam the length of the lake at age 11.  Edna completed high school, and taught school in the Binford area.

Edna married Bruce LaPlant on 14 Dec 1926, presumably in North Dakota.  In the 1930 U.S. census, they were living in Binford, Griggs, North Dakota.  Their first daughter Shirley was 2 years.  Her parents, Fred and Isabella Lewis, were enumerated next to them.

It is reported in family notes (Source No. 388) that Bruce went to Montana in 1929, where he was employed with the Montana Power Department.  He returned that year, presumably to Binford, where they are enumerated in 1930.  He returned to Montana with Edna and their daughter.  Returning to Griggs County, they farmed on "the Dave Wilcox farm, north of Cooperstown", then on "the Cowan farm, east of Red Willow Lake", which they later bought.  Their second daughter Lois was born in Binford.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Edna and Bruce were living in Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.  Bruce was a salesman for the Arneson-Loder company, selling farm equipment. They were renting their residence for $16. per month.  Their daughter Shirley had completed eighth grade, and daughter Lois, first grade.

The family's residence in Cooperstown, and Bruce's employment with Arneson-Loder from 1939 to 1945 is reported in family notes (Source No. 388).  The next paragraph states that during the second World War the family went to Tacoma, Washington, where they both worked in defense factories, he in the shipyards, and she at Boeing.  The two paragraphs contradict each other, as they cover the same time period.  The family notes state that Edna's mother died in Jun 1946, and the family returned to Binford to take care of her father and to farm.

Bruce died 18 Dec 1967 in Griggs County, North Dakota.  His last residence was Binford, Griggs, North Dakota.  Edna died 13 Sep 1993 in Griggs County.  Her last residence was Hannaford, Griggs, North Dakota.  Their burial place is unknown.
