Notes:  Gwendolyn Elizabeth Ellerson was born 5 Oct 1907 in Marquette, McPherson, Kansas.  She was the first child of John Elof Ellerson and Gertrude May Kramer.  In the 1910 U.S. census, the family were living on Lincoln Street, Marquette, McPherson, Kansas.  Her maternal grandfather, C. Kramer, 72, was living in the household.  Her father John was a salesman for a grocery store.

In the 1915 Kansas census, Marquette, Kansas, Gwendolyn, 7, had a brother Ellsmore [John Elof, Jr.], 1.  Her father John was a resturant keeper.  The family moved to Boise, Ada, Idaho. In the 1920 U.S. census, Gwendolyn, 12, was living with her family at 2612 Fairview Avenue, Boise, Ada, Idaho.  Her younger siblings were Junior Elsusese [John Elof, Jr.], 6, and Ina L.H., 1 month.  Her father John was a weaver for the Economy Rug Co.

From 1925 through 1941, Gwendolyn's family lived north of Boise in the Green Meadow area of Ada County, Idaho.  Her father John was a weaver for what became known as the Economy Rug, Mattress & Furniture Company.  By 1929 Gwendolyn was a telephone operator for Falk's Mercantile Company.

In the 1930 U.S. census, the family was enumerated living on Bogart Lane, Green Meadow, Ada, Idaho.  They were renting their house, and John was a weaver.  The children were Gwendolyn, 22, bookkeeper for a mercantile store, John, 16, Ina Lee, 10, and Ivan, 4.

The Boise City Directorys through 1941 lists Gwendolyn holding several positions with Falk's, including that of bookeeper, sales auditor, and auditor clerk.  Her sister Ina is listed as a bookkeeper, then stenographer for Motor Center.  Her father John was a weaver, then cleaner for the Economy Rug Company.

In the 1940 U.S. census, the family is again enumerated in Green Valley, Ada, Idaho, living in the same house as in 1935.  Oddly, her father John is listed as a farmer, farming on his own account.  The children at home were Gwendolyn, 32, four years of high school, bookkeeper for a retail department store; Inelle, 20, four years of high school, stenographer; and Ivan, 14, 6th grade.  Lodging with the family was Stanley Wells, 26, a farmer, farming on his own account.

According to family notes, Gwendolyn married Bernice Boyd Smith on 22 Dec 1945 in Boise, Ada Idaho.  According to the Boise, Idaho, City Directory for the years 1955 through 1958, their residence was on West State (RD1).  Her husband Bernice was a foreman, then superintendant, at the Nagel Beverage Company.  They had no children.

Gwendolyn died 9 Dec 1962, in Boise, Ada, Idaho.  Bernice died 22 Sep 1989.  Both are buried in Dry Creek Cemetery*, Boise, Ada, Idaho.
