Notes:  Horace A. Hollinshead was born in Jul 1882 in Iowa.  His parents were Edward Hollinshead and Susan Detwiller.  He had an older sister, Ina, born in 1879 in Illinois.  In 1880, his parents were living in Lyons City, Clinton, Iowa with Edward's brother, Horace Hollinshead, and his family.  Edward was an engineer, Susan was keeping house, and Ina was one year old.  Horace was presumably born in Clinton.  The family moved to Canada where his brother Ernest was born in May 1886.  They returned to the United States in 1887, and his sister Marian was born in Sep 1894 in Wisconsin.  His father who had become a River Captain, died 13 Aug 1896 in Trempealeau, Wisconsin, which had become the family home.

In the 1900 U.S. census, Horace was living with his mother, now widowed, brother Ernest, and sister Marian in Trempealeau, Wisconsin.  At 17 years of age, he was a day laborer.  In the 1910 U.S. census, he was living in the Village of Sheldon, Ransom County, North Dakota.  He was a boarder with Hiran F. Fisk, a grain buyer, and his wife Martha.  Horace was a newspaper editor.

Horace married Lenore Eastman, a resident of Sheldon, in Hood County, Oregon, on 12 Oct 1912.  Horace A. Hollinshead, solicitor, is listed in the 1913 Portland, Oregon, City Directory at 8-390 12th, Portland.

In April 1913, Lenore reported that on 5 Mar 1913, Horace had left home, located at 108 East Thirty-fifth Street, Portland, to seek a location in the southern part of Oregon in which to start a bank.  He had promised to write when he reached the first town, but she had not heard from him since.  He was employed as an advertising solicitor, and was described as 5 feet, 9 inches, 145 pounds, with light hair and blue eyes.  Nothing more is known about Horace.

In 1915, and thereafter, his wife Lenore is living with her mother, Ella Eastman, in Sheldon, North Dakota, listed as a widow.
