Notes:  Edwin J. Rhoades was born Oct 1871 probably in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska.  His parents were Albert K. Rhoades and Adilade M. Radford.  In the 1880 U.S. census, the family was living in Omaha, Nebraska. He had two older sisters, Effie (or Maude) and Ivonie, and two younger sisters, Ada and Theresa.  His father was a carpenter.  In the 1900 U.S. census, only Edwin and his sister Theresa were living at home.  Edwin was a carpenter.

According to the California State Bar, Edwin was admitted to the California Bar in May 1907.

He married Alice Hildebrand on 3 Jul 1911 in Los Angeles County, California.  He had a private law practice, and became a judge.  He and Alice did not have children.

Edwin died 3 Feb 1932 in Alhambra.  Services were held at the Chapel of Turner, Stevens, and Turner on 5 Feb 1932.  Both he and his wife Alice are buried in the San Gabriel Cemetery, San Gabriel, California.
