Notes:   Lloyd M. Smith was born in 1916 in Quill Lake, Humbolt, Saskatchewan.  He was the third son of Stanley A. and Eva Isobel Smith.  In the 1921 Canada census, the family was living in Lakeside Municipality, Twp. 36, Range 16, W2, Humbolt, Saskatchewan.  The children were sons Moris A., 11, George S., 10, Lloyd, 5, and daughter Andry I., 1.  Stanley was a farmer and the family's religious preference was Presbyterian.

On 18 Jun 1937, Lloyd crossed the Canadian border at Raymond, Montana, on a visit to Yellowstone National Park and British Columbia.  The border crossing card describes him as 21 years, and 5ft. 9in., with a ruddy complexion, brown hair and blue eyes.  He was a farm laborer, residence Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, and his father Stanley A. Smith of Quill Lake, was cited as his nearest relative.  He was accompanied by a Jason Watkin, and had $40.00.  A second border crossing card was made 26 Jun 1937 at Northport, Washington.  He was in transit for four days and was going home via Banff, Alberta.  He had $25.00, and a 1" scar on his left thumb.

Lloyd married Minnie Lorraine Strome in 1941 in Englefeld, Humbolt, Saskatchewan.The couple made their home in Quill Lake, and had a son and a daughter.

Lloyd died in 1991, and is buried in the Quill Lake Cemetery, Quill Lake, Saskatchewan.
