Notes:  Faye Alveretta Johnston was born 1 Aug 1914 in California.  Her parents were George S. Johnston, born in Missouri, and Ida M. Belden, born in Kansas.  She had two older brothers, Leonard and Leon, and two older sisters, Ruth and Viola, all born in Kansas.

In the 1920 U.S. census, the family was living at 222 Fourth Street North, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Her father was a laborer, working for a transfer company.  Leonard, age 17, and Leon, age 15, were teamsters in construction.  Ruth, age 14, and Viola, age 10, attended school.  Faye was age 5 years.  Also in the household was her maternal grandfather, Edward J. Belden, age 62, born in Pennsylvania.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Faye was living at 1639 Steele Street, El Monte, California, with her parents.  Her father was a carpenter, working on houses.  They owned their home, valued at $6,000., and did not have a radio set.

Faye married Frederick B. Ferrell on 12 Dec 1933 in Alhambra, Los Angeles, California.  They moved often in their short marriage.  In the Alhambra City Directory, 1935, they were living at 310 Marengo Avenue, Alhambra, California.  In the 1936 Voter records, their address was 413 W. Linda Vista, Los Angeles.  Their first son, Freddie Leon, was born in 1934, and their second son, Edward Ray, in 1939.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Faye and Frederick were living at 315 W. Garvey, El Monte, California.  Their son Freddie Leon was 5 years, and their son Edward Ray was 1 year.  Frederick was a truck driver, hauling rock and gravel.  In the 1942 Voter records, their address was 101 W. Third Street, Los Angeles, Frederick was an operator.  The marriage ended in divorce some time in the 1940's.  In the 1946 Voter Registrations list, Faye is registered as a Democrat, living at 27 S. Granada Ave., Alhambra.

On 24 Apr 1950, Faye married Eric Gunner Benson.  They were married by Superior Court Judge High in Long Beach, California.  Eric, born in 1906 or 1907 in Illinois, had been married two times previously.  His parents were Hjalmer Benson and Anna Broden, of Swedish descent.  Eric died 31 Oct 1977, and nothing more is known about the marriage.

Faye must have married a third time as her surname at death was Griffin.  Faye died 14 Jun 1990 in Los Angeles County.  She is buried with her brother Leonard in Live Oak Memorial Park, Monrovia, California.
