Notes:  Bernard Roberton was born in 17 Jul 1910, at home at 430 So. 8th E. in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah; His parents were George Roberton Jackson and Rhoda Beatrice Ruffell.  His father George was a bookkeeper.  He had two older sisters.  Laverna, born in 1906, had died in 1908.  Lucy A. had been born in 1908.

When Bernard was a baby, the family moved to Monroe, Sever, Utah.  Here his sister Della was born in 1913, and brother Russell Henry in 1915.  His family moved in a sheep wagon to Sutherland, Millard, Utah in the spring of 1916.  Here his brother Lloyd George was born in 1917, and sister Maxine in 1919.  His father George was now a farmer.

In the 1920 U.S. census, Bernard was living with his family in Sutherland, Millard, Utah.  They owned their farm, and his father George was a general farmer with employees.  The children were Lucy A., 11, Bernard R., 10, Della, 7, Russel H., 4, Lloyd G., 2, and Maxine, 2 months.  The older three attended school.

Bernard's sister Ruth was born in 1922, and sister Shirley in 1925.  His father George was called to the Western States Mission, proselytizing in Colorado from October 1926 until Mar 1927.

In the 1930 U.S. census, Bernard was living with his family on Sutherland Road in Sutherland, Millard, Utah.  They owned their home, did not have a radio set.  His father George was a general farmer.  The children at home were Bernard R., 19, Della, 17, Russell H., 14, Lloyd G., 12, Maxine, 10, Ruth, 8, and Shirley, 5.  All but the youngest attended school.

Bernard married Nella Robison on 8 Sep 1933 in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada.  The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.  In the 1940 U.S. census, Bernard his wife Nellie were living in Sutherland, Millard, Utah, on their own farm, valued at $1,000.  They were living in the same place as five years previous.  Bernard had completed four years of high school and was farming on his own account.  They had two children, Robert, 5, and Loni A., 2.  LeRay, Barbara and Steven were born following the 1940 U.S. census.

Bernard was a farmer, farming until he was 91 years of age.  He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Church Farm Manager.  At some point in time, Bernard and Nella moved a short distance to Delta, Millard, Utah.

Bernard's wife Nella died 19 Sep 1996 after 63 years of marriage.  Bernard died 7 Oct 2002 in Delta, Millard, Utah.  Services were held 12 Oct 2002 at the Sutherland Ward.  He was buried alongside his wife in the Sutherland Cemetery, Sutherland, Millard, Utah.
