Notes:  Wade Hampton Thomas, Jr., was born 19 Dec 1911 in New Port, Campbell, Kentucky.  His parents were Wade Hampton Thomas, Sr., and Sophie Louise Fischer.  In the 1920 U.S. census, Wade was living with his family in Port Royal, Caroline, Virginia.  His father, Wade H. Thomas, 42, born in Virginia, was a carpenter on the docks.  His mother, Sophie A. Thomas, 38, born in Kentucky, was of German ancestry.  The family was renting their residence.  The children were Edna B., 15, Thelma L. 12, Wade H., 8, and Erma,8 months.  The three oldest, all born in Kentucky, attended school.  The baby Erma had been born in Virginia. In the 1930 U.S. census, Wade was living with his family in the Jefferson District, Virginia Highlands, Arlington, Virginia.  His father, Wade H. Thomas, 53, was a carpenter on a bridge.  His mother, Sophia L. Thomas, 45, was a saleswoman in a department store.  His sister Thelma, 22, was married to Harry, 24, who was a carpenter on a bridge.  Wade H., 18, was a clerk in the Department of Agriculture.  And Erma E.. 11, attended school.  The family owned their residence, valued at $6,500., and had a radio set. Wade H. Thomas, 24, married Ella Louise Allison, 21, on 18 Jul 1936 at Do. Highlands, Arlington, Virginia.  The Arlington, Virginia, City Directory, 1934 lists Wade H. Thomas and his wife Louise living at 602 Walbrook Ave,, Va Highland., before their marriage date.  The Alexandria, Virginia, City Directory, 1938 lists the couple living at 1001 18th S, Arlington, Virginia. In the 1940 U.S. census, Wade H. Thomas, 28, was living with his wife, Ella L. Thomas 25, in the Gelmont Apts.,Washington, District of Columbia.  Wade was an accounting clerk for the Department of Agriculture.  Ella was a telephone operator.  Both had completed two years of high school. In 1940 when Wade, 29, registered for the WWII draft, his residence was Arlington, Virginia, and he was described as 5'11", 155 lbs. with blue eyes, brown hair and a ruddy complexion.  He listed his mother Sophia Louise Thomas as next of kin.   According to his headstone, Wade served in WWII as a Tech 4, with the 702 Ord Co. Wade and Ella had one daughter, Carole Louise Thomas, born 6 Apr 1942.  The couple separated in December 1942.  A final decree of divorce was granted 17 Jan 1947 in favor of Wade on the grounds of desertion.  At the time he was living at 1010 17th St. S, .Arlington, Virginia. Wade Hampton Thomas, 35, married again on 10 Oct 1947 in the District of Columbia to Naomi Hines Kerr, 30  They had a son, William Roy Thomas born 23 Aug 1953, who died 16 Jul 1953 . Wade H. Thomas, Jr., died 10 Feb 1970 in the Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Fairfax, Virginia.  At the time of his death he was an accountant for the Department of Agriculture, and his residence was at 6112 Greeley Blvd., Springfield, Fairfax, Virginia.  He was buried 12 Feb 1970 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.  His son has a headstone next to his.
