Notes:  John Joseph Sams and Mable Goldene Haley were married 22 Jun 1919.  *Some family records give Minneapolis, Ottawa, Kansas as place of marriage, and another gives Junction City, Geary, Kansas.  In the 1920 U.S. census, they were living with his family in Garfield Twp., Ottawa, Kansas.  John was a farmer.  Their first daughter Phyllis Rae was born in 1922.

In the 1925 Kansas State census, John and Mable were living in Garfield Twp., Ottawa, Kansas.  John was farming, and their daughter was 2.  By the 1930 U.S. census, John and Mable had added a second daughter to the family.  They were still farming in Garfield Twp., and they owned their land.

Sometime after 1935, the family moved into the town of Minneapolis, Ottawa, Kansas.  In the 1940 U.S. census, although they lived in town, John was still farming.  Mable died 11 Jul 1965.  John died 16 Oct 1966, his last residence being Minneapolis.  They are buried in the Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, Ottawa, Kansas.
