Notes:  Ludwik Opid and Stefania Sikorski were married in Poland, part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.  They immigrated to the United States arriving in New York on 25 Jul 1889.  Stephania and Ludwik had three children while they lived in New York. , John Thaddeus was born 28 Nov 1890, Helena was born 2 Mar 1892, and Felicia was born 10 Jul 1893.  Felicia may have been known as Lola.  The family moved to Southern California in 1895.  Ludwik was a well-known musician whose instrument was the cello.

There is no record of the family in the 1900 USA Census, but it was reported that they were living in Oregon in the summer of 1900.  They returned to California.  Stefania died 27 Nov 1903, leaving Ludwik to raise their children, then ages 12, 10, and 8 years.  Ludwik married Caroline Hildebrand in 1905.
