Notes: In July 1906, Roy at age 11 lived on his parents' farm at Lavenham, Manitoba. They had 10 horses, 9 milche cows, 30 other cattle, 8 sheep and lambs, and five hogs and pigs.

In March 1916, Roy completed the Attestation Paper as a recruit in the Canadian Over-seas Exeditionary Force. At that time he was single, 6'3" tall and had a dark complexion, brown eyes, and dark brown hair. He was then still living at his parents' farm.
