| Notes:  According to family records, George Albert Startup was born 31 Jan 1877 in Provo,
                  Utah, Utah.  His parents were William Dawe Startup and Hagar Hick.  Emma May Dunn was born
                  20 May 1880 in Provo, Utah, Utah.  Her parents were James Dunn and Hannah Fielding.  
                  George A. Startup, 22, married Emma May Dunn, 18, on 25 Apr 1899 in Provo, Utah, Utah.  
                  They had a family of nine children, all born in Provo. 
 
  In the 1910 U.S. census, Geo. A. Startup, 32, and his wife Emma Startup, 30, were living on South 1st 
                  West in Provo Ward 2, Utah, Utah.  They had been married 11 years, and Emma had had 6 children,
                  five of them then living.  George was the manager of a candy factory.  Their children were 
                  Amme, 10, Walter D., 8, Ethel R., 6, George H., 3, and Evlyn, 1.  James Paul, born in 1904, had 
                  died in 1907.  Also in the household was Elma Anderson, 26, born in Sweden, and a servant. 
 In the 1920 U.S. census, George A. Startup, 43, and his wife Emma D. Startup, 39, were living at
                  260 1st West Street in Provo Ward 2.  They owned their house and George was a candy manufacturer
                  working on his own account.  According to the obituary of their 
                  daughter Ethel, The Startup Candy Company in Provo was a family business.  The children
                  at home were Walter D., 18, a packer in the candy factory; Ethel, 16, Henry, 13, Evelyn, 10, all three 
                  attending school; Max, 7, and Margret, 3.
 
 In the 1930 U.S. census, George A. Startup, 53, and his wife Emma Startup, 48, were still at 260 1st
                  West Street, Provo Ward 2.  They owned their house with a value of $7,500., and had a radio set. 
                  George was now the manager of an automobile sales agency.  The children at home were Evlyn, 21, a
                  stenographer in a real estate office; Max, 17, Margaret, 13, and Wayne, 8, the youngest three attending
                  school.
 
 In the 1940 U.S. census, George A. Startup, 63, and his wife Emma M. Startup, 59, were living at
                  67 N. First North, Provo.  They owned their house with a value of $2,400.  George was a roofer,
                  working for himself, and had completed eighth grade.  Emma had also completed eighth grade. 
                  Their only child still at home was Wayne, 18, who had completed one year of high school.
 
 
  George Albert Startup, 80, died 8 May 1957 at 1163 South State, Orem, Utah.  Cause of death was acute
                  pneumonia, with contributing factors of chronic myocarditis and old age.  He was retired, and his
                  last residence was at 275 North 300 West, Provo, Utah.  He was buried 11 May 1957 in the
                  Provo City Cemetery, Provo, Utah. 
 Emma May Startup, 81, died 13 Jul 1961, at her home at 275 North 3rd West, Provo, Utah.  Cause of death
                  was cardiac decompensation, with contributing factors of obesity and old age.  She was buried 17
                  Jul 1961 in the Provo City Cemetery.
