| Notes:  According to family records, James Reece Hooks was born 7 Jun 1860 in Wayne, Michigan. 
                  His parents were James Hooks and Elizabeth Conrad.  Louisa Bertha Muhlestein was born 15 Sep 1875
                  in Provo, Utah, Utah.  Her parents were Nicholas Muhlestein and Anna Caroline Wintch.  J.R. Hooks,
                  46, married Louise B. Muhlesteen, 31, on 5 Jun 1906 in the LDS Manti Temple, Manti City, Sanpete,
                  Utah.  They had a family of five children, all born in Provo, Utah, Utah. 
 
  In the 1910 U.S. census, James R. Hooks, 49, and his wife, Louisa B. Hooks, 34, were living on E. 6th 
                  North, in Provo Ward 5, Utah, Utah.  James was a hauler.  Their daughter Bertha L. was
                  1 5/12.  Enumerated next was Elizabeth Hooks, 80, a widow and the mother of James. 
 In the 1920 U.S. census, James R. Hooks, 59, and his wife, Louisa B. Hooks, 44, were living on E. 6th
                  North, in Provo Ward 7, Utah, Utah.   They owned the residence free of mortgage.  James was a
                  farmer, farming on his own account.  The children were Bertha L., 11, Gladdys, 8, James A., 6, Iona,
                  4 11/12, and Anna I, 3 3/12.  The older three children attended school.  Enumerated next was
                  Elizabeth C. Hooks, 89, a widow.
 
 In the 1930 U.S. census, J. Reese Hooks, 69, and his wife, Louise B. Hooks, 54, were living at 691 E. 6th
                  North in Provo, Utah, Utah.  James was a teamster in the sand and gravel industry.  Louisa
                  was doing housework in a private home.  Their children were Bertha L., 21, a stenographer in a
                  doctor's office; Gladys, 19, a secretary for a school; and James A., 17, Iona S., 15, and Anna I, 13. 
                  All of the children attended school.
 
 The Provo, Utah, City Directories for the years 1915 through 1946 list the family home at
                  691 E. 6th North, Provo, Utah.   Jame's mother, Elizabeth (widow of James) was listed at the 
                  same address in 1915 and 1920.  Jame's occupation is listed first as a farmer, then a teamster. 
                  The 1935 directory lists Louisa as a widow, and lists James death date as "July 5 '35".  The 1946 
                  directory lists Louisa at the home address, living with her oldest daughter Bertha
 
 
    James Reece Hocks died at home on 5 Jul 1935.  Cause of death was uremia, the underlying cause 
                  being prostatic hypertrophy.  His usual occupation was farmer and gardener.   Louisa Bertha 
                  Hooks died at home on 24 Mar 1949.  Cause of death was acute cardiac decompensation due to myocardial
                  degeneration and old age.  Her usual occupation was housewife.  They are buried in the 
                  Provo City Cemetery, Provo, Utah, Utah.
