Notes:  Maude Elizabeth Fifer was born 11 Nov 1919 in Nampa. Canyon, Idaho to Oscar Fifer, 42, and Cora May Cummings, 36.  She was the youngest of seven children, one then deceased.  Her father was a minister.  The family is not found in the 1920 USA census, and at some time moved to Los Angeles, California.

Maude attended Lincoln Park Elementary School, South Pasadena School district, and in 1929 received a perfect spelling record in fourth grade.  In the 1930 USA census, Maude, 10, was living with her parents, Oscar Fifer, 52, and Cora M., 46, at 6316 Lomitas Dr., Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California.  Her father was a rancher on a private ranch.  They owned their home valued at $8,000., and had a radio set.  Her siblings still at home were Florence L., 18, a stenographer reporter, and Harvey R., 11.

Maude attended Alexander Hamilton High School, Los Angeles, and her 1936 yearbook senior portrait notes she was active in Nevian, G.A.A., and Girl's Glee Club.

On 2 Sep 1939, Maude E. Fifer and Clifford E. Ferrell were married by Rev. W. W. Kaler n the parsonage of the Methodist Church in Whittier.  They honeymooned in Santa Barbara, California, and then made their home in Highland Park, Los Angeles.  In the 1940 USA census, Maude Ferrell, 20, and Clifford, 25, were renting a home at 5740 York Boulevard, Los Angeles, California.  Her husband was working as a bank teller at Bank of America, earning $1,100.  Maude was a secretary in a doctor's office, earning $900.  Later that year, they were living at 1567 Fair Park, Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, when her husband registered for the WWII draft.  In 1942, her husband began work for the North American Aviation Co. in El Segundo.

In the 1950 USA census, Maude E. Ferrell, 30, and her husband Clifford E. Ferrell, 35, were living at 1811 Manhattan Avenue, Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles, California.  Her husband was a manufacturing analyst for the aircraft company.  Their children were Joelyn L., 7, Richard E., 5, and Patricia A., 2.

According to voter registration records, Maude and Clifford were both registered as Democrats.  They lived in various homes including 2424 Palm Drive, Hermosa Beach City (1942), 128 N. Alessandro Avenue, Temple City (1946), 1811 Manhattan Avenue, Hermosa Beach City (1948 and 1950), and 961 Calle Miramar, Torrance (1954).

According to their son, their passion was sailing   They started with a 14 foot daysailer, and eventually Maude and Clifford were living on a 40 foot Ketch, the Windsong.  In April of 1971, in high winds and swells, their boat experienced engine and rigging failure offshore from Los Angeles International Airport, giving Clifford head lacerations, and they had to be towed in by a harbor patrol craft.  In 1975 they sold the boat, and moved ashore, retiring in the Morro Bay area of Central California.

Maude's husband Clifford died 16 Nov 1982 at UCLA Hospital, of a tumor on the brain stem.  They had been living at 1421 Bay Oaks Dr., Los Oso, San Luis Obispo County 93402.  Following his death, Maude lived in several places, including 1959 Sherwood Dr., Westlake Village (1986), 126 Tranquila Dr., Camarillo (1993), and 2075 Truett Cir, Thousand Oaks.

According to her son, Maude Ferrell died 8 Apr 2020, in Ventura, Ventura, California.  Their burial place is unknown.
