Leslie G. Baldwin Pleads
An indictment against Leslie G. Baldwin, manager of the
Perth Amboy Loan Company, which is now in the receiver's hands, was answered to with a plea of not guilty by Mr. Baldwin.
The offense charged was the same as the indictment against Mr. Merritt and the plea of not guilty
was entered with the understanding that Mr. Baldwin may retract and enter a plea of guilty if he desired to do so,
after consulting with the receiver for the concers. Bail was fixed at $1,000.

Perth Amboy "Broker" Faces Prison Term, is Contention

New Brunswick, April 9. — Two alleged loan sharks of this city and Perth Amboy
pleaded before Judge Daly in the court of common pleas this morning. Leslie G. Baldwin
accused of usury in connection with loans of money made at the headquarters of the American Loan and Brokerage Company
at 95 Smith street, Perth Amboy, pleaded not guilty and thereby faces a state prison term. Frank D. Merritt,
manager for the New Brunswick Loan company, similarly accused, pleaded non vult and was fined $700.

BALDWIN MADE A $200 SPEECH

New Brunswick, Aug 13. — A $200 speech was made by
Leslie G. Baldwin of Perth Amboy, formerly manager for the American Loan & Brokerage Company in thaat city,
when his fine was reduced to that amount in court here yesterday.
