Notes:  Betty's middle name Lucile is erroneously given as Lucille in Source 1039.  She was raised from age 9 to 18 by Aunt Clara (her legal guardian) and Fred, Clara's husband. Betty and her husband lived in the middle of the California's Mojave Desert, 27 miles from Baker and 40 miles from Barstow, for the last 15 years of her life.  Betty called herself a regular old desert rat — trying to raise prize iris and Kerry Blue Terriers and not suceeding very well at either.  She said it is fun working with the dogs for show and obedience.  We aren't really rock hounds or dead Indian hunters but we have so many friends that are, that it has rubbed off on us a little. I am one of those statistic numbers that cancer can be cured if caught early . . . I had uterine cancer that surgery could remove — no x-ray or radiation therapy.  Lucky me! Betty was 46 years old when she was killed in an automobile accident.
