Notes: John was 21 years old and Ruby was 18 when they married. The Holtville
Tribune said A marriage that came as the culmination of a romance just six
weeks' long was that of Miss Ruby [McFarren], one of Holtville's most popular
young women, daughter of William [McFarren] of this city, to Lester Price of
the Alamo garage. The marriage was consummated yesterday afternoon at El
Centro by Judge Mayerfield in the latter's court room, after which the young
people came back to this city.
In the evening, as they were enjoying the show at the Airdome theater a number
of friends took them in charge and escorted by no less than six carloads of well
wishers, the newly weds were taken as far as Imperial, where refreshments were
obtained, after which the gay party returned and say that the bride and groom
arrive safely at their new home in the Gates' property. |
