Notes:  *Rachel Schaffer was born in April 1821 to Anna Nancy Schaffer, apparently out of wedlock with an unknown father.  Three years later Jonathan Foust married Anna Nancy, a young mother with her daughter Rachel Schaffer.  Anna Nancy and daughter Rachel then took on the surname Foust.  We assume that Rachel was informally adopted by Jonathan. Rachel passed on at just under 51½ years.  She has her own white sandstone headstone — next to a large gray marble upright monument (shown at the near right) commemorating the lives of Jacob McFarren and his two wives:  Rachel and Emily.  Because of the poor condition of the monument, we provide at the far right a sketch that gives the text on Rachel's two headstones.
