Description:       Source Type}   Cemetery Record Family History} Hancock
McFarren Cemetery, located at County Road 500S and east of County Road 200W near the intersection of County Road 100W and the Hoosier Highway in Section 26 of Liberty Township, Wells County, Indiana.  Take the dirt road by the telephone pole with the white reflector at the bottom.  Note that the cemetery is on private property.
The Source envelope on this cemetery includes the following items:

  2. Six-pages of original, handwritten headstone drawings by Karen Hancock on 3 Aug 1991
  3. 10½" x 12½" Wells County, Indiana, Road Numbering System map of Bluffton area
  4. Wells County Cemetery Records 1968 Volume 2 M-Z edited and arranged by the Director of Genealogy, Wells County Historical Society, pages 447 - 451
          The land for this cemetery was donated by Benjamin Mendenhall Sr., and it was known as the Mendenhall Cemetery until 1857 when the McFarren family purchased the farm, thus changing the name to McFarren.  The first person interred here was Mrs. Benjamin (Margery Clingham) Mendenhall, June 2, 1843.  This data was compiled by M/S. Victo and Ruth Gavin, members of the Wells County Historical Society.
