Notes:  Junior LeRoy Walker was born 26 Oct 1920 in Sutherland, Millard, Utah.  He was the youngest of three children of Simeon LeRoy Walker and Lucy Anderson.  He was known to his friends as Roi and in most records as J. LeRoy Walker.
In the 1930 U.S. census, Junior Walker, 9, was living with his parents, Leroy Walker, 38, and Lucy, 43, in Huntington, Emery, Utah.  His father was a cook in the local high school.  The family was renting their home for $20., and had a radio set.  His older siblings were Helen, 14, and Don, 12.  The three children were all attending school.  The family lived in the Oak City area during his early years, Roi attended Delta High School.

In the 1940 U.S. census, Junior LeRoy Walker, 19, was living with his parents, LeRoy Walker, 40, and Lucy, 53, at North 100 West in St. George, Washington, Utah.  He was a laborer, working for the Forest Service, had completed four years of high school.  In 1939 he had worked for 39 weeks, earning $390.  He was also attending school, his higher education starting at Dixie College, then the University of Utah.  In 1940, his father LeRoy had completed four years of college, and was an Educational Advisor in government work, and had earned $2,000. in 1939.  His mother Lucy had completed one year of high school.

Junior Leroy Walker married Aileen Worthen on 25 Dec 1941 in St. George, Washington, Utah.  The marriage took place in her parents home, with her father officiating.  The ceremony took place after the family Christmas dinner and they left for an unknown honeymoon destination.  The two families lived just a short way apart in St. George.  Roi went back to Ogden, working at the Ogden Ordinance Depot, and Aileen stayed in the community teaching school.

On 16 Feb 1942, Junior Leroy Walker registered for the World War II draft.  He was living in Clinton, Davis, Utah, and working at the Ogden Ordinance Depot, in Sunset, Davis, Utah.  He was described as 6 ft.2 in., weiging 198 lbs., with blue eyes, blond hair and a light complexion.  His closest relative was his wife Aileen, living in Rockville, Utah.

On 22 Apr 1943, J. Leroy enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Commissioned Officer (Captain).  He was released 5 Jun 1946, but after a short period as a civilian, he reenlisted and served for another 26 years.  Over the course of many years, he served in California, Oklahoma, Kansas, New York, Virginia, Washington, Panama, Japan, France, and Germany.

In the 1950 U.S.census, J. Leroy Walker, 29, and Aileen W., 30 were living in Tacoma, Pierce, Washington, where he was serving in the Army.  Their children were Joe L., 7, Toni, 3, and Lawrence D., about 10 months.  Three more children, Leslie, Lynn and Jerri, were to be added to the family.

Following his retirement from the Army as a lieutenant colonel, Roi worked for the Brigham Young University in the Educational Media Division.  After seven years there, he started his own multi-media business and ran it for several years before ultimately retiring to Orem, Utah.  In Orem he served on the city council for several years.  Their home was located at 425 S 900 E, Orem.

During his lifetime, Roi was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings.  Some of these included bishop, high councilman, district president, choir director, and home teacher.  He was involved in scouting and helped many young men attain the rank of Eagle Scout.  Roi and Aileen served in the Australia Perth Mission from 1987-1988.

L. LeRoy Walker passed away on 28 Jul 2008 at CareSource Hospice in Holladay. Salt Lake County, Utah.  He was 87 years old.  Services were held 31 Jul 2008 at the Sharon 5th Ward Chapel, Orem, and he was interred in the Orem City Cemetery next to his wife.
