Lawrence and his wife left Pittsburgh in about 1903 and moved to Greenville, Pennsylvania.|
The photo shows Lawrence with one of his Greenville Baggage Transfer wagons that he used for hauling things that came on the train, as well as salesmen who came in on the train. This was circa 1907.
Lawrence was in the wholesale produce business, raised sweet corn for the stores, hauled heavy freight, had a street watering business to keep the dust down, and ran a taxi from the train station to hotels or businesses for salesmen. He also sold Christmas trees in December until he was about 90 years old. For awhile, he and his son-in-law raised Scotch pine trees for that market, althought he bought balsam trees, holly, mistletoe, etc.
