Two public member trees, located online at Ancestry.com via subscription,
as follows:
- Burris Family Tree by Micheal Burris was used as an information
source for Sarah Elizabeth McCord and her paternal ancestors.
Although some sources are cited, this family tree:
- contains some errors that are also found in many McCord family
trees in Ancestry.com. However, it does provide some useful
information about Sarah Elizabeth McCord's
ancestry.
- erroneously lists Solomon Knight as the second husband of Sarah
Elizabeth McCord.
- fails to record the actual second husband of Sarah Elizabeth McCord
(namely, John Harding Ellison) even
though their marriage lasted for
over 39 years and is well documented in his pension records.
- does not provide a well-documented ancestry for
Susan D. Ritchie.
- Ritchie Family Tree by Ivey1978 was used as an information source
for Susan D. Ritchie and her ancestors. This family tree was deemed to be
more reliable because, in addition to the usual U.S. Census sources, it includes
copies of John Ritchie Senior's land deeds, will, and estate
documents (which are contained in three Stories attached to John Ritchie SR's
individual record).
As of 13 Mar 2013 this public member tree had records on 3,514 individuals, over
50 of whom had Ritchie or Richey surnames. The Stories originally came
from Ancestor.com member wer2yates and were added to this public member tree by its
owner, Ivey1978, in November 2011. Since then the Stories have been
copied by 24 other Ancestry.com members — and included in countless other
family histories and public member trees.
