Notes: In the 1950 U.S. census, Lewis O. Lawyer, 41, and his wife Adele S., 30, were living
at 4123 Oak Hill Rd, Oakland, Alameda, California. Both were working as
agricultural researchers for Del Monte Corporation. Their daughter Loretta
was 11 years. Also in the household was Adele's mother, Nedye E. Schwartz, 60.
This was Lewis and Adele's family home where they raised their children.
It was on a one acre lot in the Oakland hills, with a view of the San Francisco
Bay. Their Oakland home saw the addition of two more children — Melanie Ann and
Arthur Lewis (Artie).
After their retirement, they raised a variety of iris here. When
the yard work became too much for Adele, after Lewis had died in 2001, she moved
to Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, California. |
