Notes:  In the 1900 U.S. census, William H. Kent, age 47, born in Ohio in Aug 1852, was living in Adams Twp., Wapello, Iowa.  He was widowed, having been married to Alice Jane Reed.  Alice died 4 Feb 1899, and is buried in Wellman Cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa.  According to the Iowa Birth Index, there were possiblly six or more children born of this marriage.  In the 1900 U.S. census, three children were living with William.  These were Homer, age 14, born May 1885, Charley, 12, Nov 1888, and John, 10, Aug 1890.  Only Homer's birth date matches one in the birth index.  Not included in this household was Ray Kent, born 22 Aug 1895 according to family reports.  William was a farmer. In the 1910 U.S. census, William Kent, age 57, was living in Adams Twp., Wapello, Iowa with his son Ray Kent, age 14.  He was a farmer, with a general farm.
