The 1925 Boise, Idaho, City Directory lists John E. Ellerson, weaver for Economy Rug Co., residing at Wylie Sta. The 1929 Boise City Directory lists John E. Ellerson (Gertrude), weaver for Economy Rug & Mattress Works, residing at Riverside Sta. Gwendolyn is listed as a telephone operator for Falk's, boarding with J.E. Ellerson.

In the 1930 U.S. census, John Ellerson, 45, and Gertrude Ellerson, 41, are enumerated on Bogart Lane, Green Meadow, Ada, Idaho. They were renting their house, and John was a weaver. The children were Gwendolyn, 22, bookkeeper for a mercantile store, John, 16, Ina Lee, 10, and Evan, 4.

The 1932, the Boise City Directory lists John E. Ellerson (Gertrude M.), mkr Economy Rug & Mattress Wks., residing at Gary Sta. Gwendolyn Ellerson, bookkeeper at Falk's, was renting at R F D 1. In 1934 and 1936, Gwendolyn is listed as a sales auditor for Falk's Mercantile Co. The 1939 Boise City Directory lists John E. Ellerson (Gertrude M.), rug weaver Economy Rug & Mattress Works, residing at RD 1, and Inalee K, bookkeeper at Motor Center., renting at RD 1. Gwendolyn E. Ellerson is listed as bookkeeper for Falk Mercantile Co., renting at RD 4.

In the 1940 U.S. census, John E. Ellerson, 55, and Gertrude M Ellerson, 51, both with an 8th grade education, are enumerated in Green Valley, Ada, Idaho, living in the same house as in 1935. Oddly, John is listed as a farmer, farming on his own account. The children at home were Gwendolyn, 32, 4 years of high school, bookkeeper for a retail department store; Inelle, 20, 4 years of high school, stenographer; and Ivan, 14, 6th grade. Lodging with the family was Stanley Wells, 26, a farmer, farming on his own account.

In 1941, the Boise City Directory listed John E. Ellerson (Gertrude), rug cleaner for Economy Rug Mattress & Furn., residing on RD1. Gwendolyn is listed as and auditor clerk for the Falk Mercantile Co., renting west of city.
