Notes:  Hans Christian Møller was born 18 Jan 1846 in Jordrup, Anst, Ribe, Denmark.  His parents were Christian Rasmussen Møller and Gjertrud Kirstine Christensdatter.  He was christened on 24 May 1846 in Jordrup.  He had an older brother, Christian Madsen Møller, born in 1843, and a younger brother, Soren Christian Møller, born in 1850.  He had several half brothers and sisters, as this was the third marriage for his father Christian.

In the 1850 Danish census, Hans was 4 years old, living with his parents and older brother in Jordrup.  His father was a daglejer or day laborer.  Also in the household was Maren Møller, his half-sister.  In the 1860 Danish census, Hans was 15 years, and Søren was 10 years.  His father was listed as a farmer.

Hans married Nielsine Kristine Hansen on 27 Nov 1869 in Jordrup.  The family had seven children, all sons until the last one was a daughter.  Three of their sons, died in infancy and early childhood.  These were Rasmus Kristian, Peter Christian, and Rasmus Christian.  In the 1880 Danish census, the family was living in Jordrup Bye, Anst, Ribe.  Hans was 34 years old and a daglejer.  The children were Kristian Hansen, age 10 years, Hans Nielsen, age 7 years, and Peter Christian, age 2 years.  Han's wife Nielsine Kristine died 25 Jan 1887, when their daughter Martha Marie was not yet two years old.

Hans emmigrated to the United States, leaving from Copenhagen, Denmark, on the Danish ship the S/S Thingvalla, seen below.  The ship stopped for additional passengers in Christiania and Christiansand, Norway.  The ship arrived at Castle Gardens in New York on 21 Jul 1887.  Hans was described as Passenger No. 143, age 41, a single male, farmer, with two pieces of luggage.  He left behind in Denmark three sons (two of whom followed him to the United States a couple of years later), and his young daughter (who was raised by relatives in Denmark).

Hans settled in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  However, he is not found in the 1900 U.S. census records.  He died on his 63rd birthday, 18 Jan 1909.  He is buried in the Miller plot in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
