| Notes: Dortha Pace was born 13 Oct 1910 in Price, Carbon, Utah. She was the fifth child of
William Harvey Pace and Kathyrn W. Middleton. Her older siblings had all been born in Cedar City,
Iron, Utah. They were brothers John William, born in 1899, Carlos Middleton, 1903, Francis Middleton,
1904, and sister Blythe in 1906. Her younger sister Jean was born in 1914 in Price. In the 1920 U.S. census, Dortha was living with her family in Delta, Millard, Utah. Her father William was the manager of a garage, and her mother Kathyrn was the office girl. The children at home included Carloss M., 16, Frank M., 14, Blythe, 12, Dortha, 9, and Jean, 5. Except for Jean, the children had all attended school. In the 1930 U.S. census, Delta, Dortha's father was the superintendant of a business building. Her mother Kathyrn was selling tickets for the theater. They owned their residence, valued at $2,000. and did not have a radio set. The children at home included John W., 30, a laborer in the theater business, Dortha, 19, and Jean, 15. Enumerated next to them in the census was her brother Carlos M., 24, his wife Elizabeth W., 27, and two young daughters. Carlos was the manager of the theater. Dortha married Reed Clemons Walker on 2 Mar 1936 in Ely, White Pine, Nevada. In the 1940 U.S. census, Dortha, 29, and Reed, 35, were living at 954 Sperry Drive, Colton, San Bernardino, California. Reed was an apiarist, or bee keeper. Dortha had completed two years of college. They had a daughter Mitzi Jean, 2. Reed's brother Ned S. Walker, 21, also an apiarist, was living with the family. Dortha and Reed had three more daughters, including a set of twins. By 1941 the family was living in Bloomington, San Bernardino County, California. Their various Bloomington addresses included 57 N. Locust Street, and 10063 Locust Avenue, Bloomington, their long time residence. From 1944 through 1964 Dortha was registered as a Democrat. Dortha had attended the University of Utah, and went back to college, receiving her Bachelor of Arts and teaching credentials from the University of Redlands in Jun 1959. She taught for 10 years at Dr. G.A. Smith Elementary School and 7 years at Crestmore Elementary School. Dortha was active in many civic organizations, beginning with the Parents-Teachers Association in her daughters' school. She served on the Board of Directors for the San Bernardino County Tuberculois & Health Association, the Bloomington Welfare Council, the Girl Scouts of America, the American Association of University Women, Fontana Branch, the American Association of Retired Persons, Fontana Chapter 555, the San Bernardino Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, and the Lioness Club of Bloomington. Dortha's husband Reed died 17 Mar 1988 in Bloomington, San Bernardino, California. Dortha died 11 Dec 2000 in Newport Beach, Orange, California.
