Notes:  Susan Detwiller was probably born in Nov 1853 in Fullarton Twp., Perth, Ontario.  She was the ninth and last child of Christian Detwiller and Marian Campbell.  The family resided near the place called Motherwell, on a 160 acre farm.  In 1871, she was a witness to the marriage of her brother Andrew to Jane Moore.  Her mother died in 1858.  She married Edward Hollinshead on 14 Mar 1876 in St. Marys, Perth, Ontario.

In 1876, Susan and Edward immigrated to the United States.  They had a daughter named Ina who was born in 1879 when they were living in Illinois. In 1880 they are found living in Lyons City, Clinton, Iowa with Edward's brother, Horace Hollinshead, and his family.  Ina was one year old.  Edward was an engineer, and Susan was keeping house.

In July 1882, Susan had a son named Horace A., born in Iowa.  Another son Ernest W., was born in May of 1886 in Canada.  Susan and Edward returned to the United States in 1887, and a daughter Marian N. was born in Sep 1894 in Wisconsin.  Edward died 13 Aug 1896 in Trempealeau, Trempealeau, Wisconsin.  He had become a River Captain.

In Jun 1900, Susan, now a widow, was living in Trempealeau, and was listed as a farmer.  Horace, age 17 was a day laborer, and Ernest, age 14, and Marian, age 6, were attending school.  Susan died 5 Jan 1901, in Trempealeau.  Edward was buried in the Trempealeau Cemetery, and it is presumed that Susan is buried next to him.
