Notes:  Vivian Edith Detwiller was born 7 Nov 1908 in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  She was the third child of Andrew Mathieson Detwiller and Isabella Elliott Beattie.  In the 1910 U.S. census, her family was living in Tyrol Twp., Griggs, North Dakota.  It included her brother Harold James, born in 1903, and sister Myrtle Ethel, 1904.  Her father was a grain farmer. In the 1915 North Dakota census, Vivian was living with her family in Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.  The family was now complete with the addition of Ronald Henry, born in 1915.  In the 1920 U.S. census, the family was again farming in Tyrol Twp., Griggs.  The children, except for the youngest one, were attending school.  In the 1925 North Dakota census, the entire family, seen at right, was together. By the 1930 U.S. census, only Vivian and Ronald were living on the farm with their parents.  Vivian married Elmer Dewey Smith on 12 Jun 1935 in Cooperstown, Griggs, North Dakota.  In the 1940 U.S. census, Vivian and Elmer were living in Winnebago, Faribault, Minnesota.  They were renting their home for $10. per month.  Vivian had completed 1 year of college.  Her husband was a retail meat salesman. The couple had a daughter and a son.  At some point in time they moved to Orem, Utah, Utah.  Elmer died 27 October 1978 in Orem.  Vivian died 3 Oct 1996 in Orem.  Both are buried in the Orem City Cemetery, Orem, Utah.
