Notes:  Lillian Ellen Williams was born 8 Apr 1893 in the Richmond Twp., St. Croix County, Wisconsin.  She was the fifth of 12 children born to William and Mary K. Williams. Her father william, born in Wisconsin, was a farmer.  Her mother had been born in Ireland.  The family is found in the Richmond Twp. in 1900.  The 1905, 1910, and 1920 Census records record their residence as the Town of Richmond.  The 1940 USA census reports that she had four years of high school.  In 1920, Lillian was listed as being a school teacher.  Her parents were still living here in 1930.

Harry Russel Detwiller, Lillian Ellen Williams As a young woman, Lillian went to teach school in Griggs County, North Dakota.  Here she met Harry R. Detwiller.  She married Harry on 23 Jun 1920 in her home town of Richmond.  The couple then returned to Tyrol Twp., Griggs County, to farm.

The couple had four children, namely Mary, William, Catherine, and Patrick.  In 1941, they went to Wisconsin, where Harry worked in a defense plant.  They returned to the farm in 1943, and moved into Cooperstown in 1946.  Harry died 13 Jul 1967.

Lillian died 30 June 1979 in a nursing home in Cooperstown, North Dakota.  Following funeral services in St. George's Catholic Church, she was buried alongside her husband in the Saint George Cemetery, Cooperstown, North Dakota.
